8 overarching principles
1: GET PEOPLE MOVING
God’s Will unfolds over a lifetime. Everyone is chosen, challenged, and charged.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your
ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” - Proverbs 3:5-6
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to
his purpose.” - Romans 8:28
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give
you hope and a future.” - Jeremiah 29:11
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the
end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20
2: DAILY PRESENCE WITH GOD
Being mindful of our relationship with Jesus at all times.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart
from me you can do nothing.” - John 15:5
3: NOTHING WITHOUT PRAYER
We know we are nothing apart from the Lord, so we seek him in all things.
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." -
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
4: EMBED THE BIBLE IN EVERYTHING
God's word speaks into every aspect of life.
"All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our
lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right." - 2 Timothy 3:16
5: EVERYONE IS A MINISTER
We choose to love our city and look for opportunities to participate and contribute.
"Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors
and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of
Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be
mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ." - Ephesians 4:11-13
"You are the light of the world--like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden...in the same way, let your good deeds
shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father." - Matthew 5:14, 16
6: LEAD FROM A CHRIST-CENTERED HEART
Leaders live with a commitment to development and front-load obedience.
"Love the Lord your God will all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength."
- Mark 2:30
“As a prisoner of the Lord, live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” - Ephesians 4:1
“Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance
produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has
been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” - Romans 5:3-5
7: CULTIVATE A HIGH REGARD FOR OTHERS
Seeing every person as God sees them.
“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” – John 15:12
8: FUN IS RELEVANT
If the journey isn’t fun, nobody will want to go.
"I am the door. If anyone enters by me, they will find pasture (refreshment). The thief comes only to steal and kill
and destroy. But I came that they may have life and have it abundantly." - John 10:9-22
"Therefore encourage one another and build one another up." - 1 Thessalonians 5:11
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures
forevermore.” - Psalm 16:11
